Lone Star Reading List 2017

Hooray! There is a new Lone Star Reading List in town! Out with the old (sorry,Undertow by Michael Buckley and When by Victoria Laurie) and in with the new.

For those of you who don’t follow the deeply Official Lists from Libraries, the Lone Star List is curated by school and public librarians who are part of the Young Adult Round Table in the Texas Library Association. It’s a list made for 6th-8th grade readers. Not that you have to be in those grades to enjoy these books; Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine made the list in 2016 and it was also one of my favorite books I that read this last year (as evinced by my review of it…) despite the fact that I am definitely not an 8th grader anymore.

Anyways, Lone Star books are generally really great reads and if you don’t know what to read in the teen section, they’re always a good place to start. (For older teens looking for more mature, darker books, TAYSHAS list is the high school equivalent, but we will talk about that list in another post.

Without further ado, here’s the winners of the 2017 Lone Star Reading List!
