The 2010 Lone Star list has FINALLY been announced! I thought I’d give you a chance to better savor the titles by posting a few of the books each day. (And to stretch the post out for as long as I can hee hee). Here’s the first batch for your viewing pleasure.

	Alexander, Jill S. The sweetheart of Prosper County. In a small East Texas town largely ruled by prejudices and bullies, fourteen-year-old Austin sets out to win a ride in the next parade and, in the process, grows in her understanding of friendship and helps her widowed mother through her mourning.
	Beil, Michael D. The red blazer girls: The ring of rocamadour. Catholic-schooled seventh-graders Sophie, Margaret, Rebecca, and Leigh Ann help an elderly neighbor solve a puzzle her father left for her estranged daughter twenty years ago.
	Burg, Ann E. All the broken pieces: a novel in verse. Two years after being airlifted out of Vietnam in 1975, Matt Pin, age 12, is haunted by the terrible secret he left behind and, now, in a loving adoptive home in the United States, a series of profound events forces him to confront his past.
	Cashore, Kristin. Graceling. In a world where some people are born with extreme and often-feared skills called Graces, Katsa struggles for redemption from her own horrifying Grace of killing and teams up with another young fighter to save their land from a corrupt king.

Okay, as horrible as this probably sounds, I have to admit that I have never read any of the Twilight books.  And, I haven’t seen the movie, either.  The second movie, New Moon, comes out later this month, and I know several people are anxiously waiting to see it.

Which gets me to thinking about books that are made into movies.  Here’s a question for you:  which is better, the book or the movie?  Does it matter which movie we’re talking about?

YOWZA! Is next week Teen Read Week ALREADY? I hope ya’ll are ready because I so feel like I’m not! Regardless of how prepared I’m feeling, we have some fun events planned:

Big Bad Craft Day, WEDNESDAY, October 21, 5:30p.m. @ Josey Ranch Lake Library
We’ll be making yarn aliens and goth sock puppets. Make a fuzzy and/or socky friend(s) to take home!

Clash of the Creatures: The Amazing Library Race, FRIDAY, October 23, 6:30pm @ Josey Ranch Lake Library
Grab a partner and race against others to complete all the challenges. Don’t forget to bring your signed permission slip!

We know how much you love running around the library, so for Teen Read Week we are having our very own Amazing Race ® through the Josey Ranch Lake Library!

Like the tv show, teams of two will have to complete a number of challenges. The team that finishes first will be our Ultimate Reality Super Duo!

I can’t tell you what kind of challenges you’ll be faced with…you’ll have to show up and find out for yourself!
